Has anyone tried this type of portable AC?

This is the type of portable AC that uses a water tank with ice water / ice cubes. It runs for 8 to 12 hours, which would be ideal for the hotter times of day in the bird room. Of course I don't want to use the colored lights. I am interested in this one because reviews say that it's enough to make a difference in an office or smaller bedroom. Our bird room is not tiny, but is not huge. I am concerned that an in-window unit would blast too much cool air.

Unfortunately, this is also a humidifier, but I could try turning the spray setting to lowest.
EDIT: Based on one review, I get the impression that you can turn the mist/spray off.

That's basically a swamp cooler, they work by evaporative cooling. The water part of the thing is where the cooling actually comes from, so I doubt it would still cool the air with the spray off, and might just be a $70 fan with it turned off. Also if your air is humid to start with it won't work well, and it will definitely add to the humidity. I considered one of those but I think where I'm at is just too humid so I decided on a window unit. What do the temps get up to in your bird room?

The nearby hallway thermostat will say 76 - 82 degrees F, but the bird room always feels slightly warmer. This is nice during the colder months, of course. It's partially because the bird room still has carpet and has a lower ceiling (same with my husband's craft room) compared to other areas of the house.

Thank you for your advice. We are looking for other options instead.

Are you sure they need any cooling? Or is this for your comfort while in spending time with them?

That's exactly what I thought. Swamp coolers used to be popular years ago but not so much anymore. If I was desperate and didn't have an AC unit I would try one because I can't stand the heat.

I was concerned about some of the Budgies. In the late afternoon and evening, they sometimes lift their wings up a bit and open their beaks, although they don't pant heavily / rapidly. They still act normal most of the time but I want to make sure they are okay.

Sprite (Sun Conure), Kona, and Pepper (Cockatiels) don't seem bothered.

We just went to a store and bought a new oscillating fan, to replace the smaller floor fan that was in the bird room (inside a spare cage). It's better so far!
