I have been having many problems with hawk attacks. This same hawk keeps attacking my cockatiel cage. It is 1/2 inch wire, so not worried about him getting in, but don't want my birds to have a hart attack. He has been sitting in the same tree in my yard every day for a few days, and every half hour or so he comes down and attacks. I keep running out and scaring him away, but now he is not afraid of me. He doesn't fly away when I come out there, I can go right up to him. Now he is now trying to get in my screened porch to my other birds. It is not stoping, it is a daily thing now. What do I do to scare him away?!?!?!?!?!?!?

As a falconer, I can offer a suggestion.
Put your bird inside for a week or so. With no possible source of food there the hawk will move on or starve. If this does not work, contact your state's game dept and let them know your troubles. They may trap and relocate the bird for you. If not, go on line and contact your state's falconry association. Chances are your wild hawk is a passage bird and is usable for falconry. By it's behavior I'm guessing it's either an accepter or smaller falcon like a Merlin. If your in North America I'm guessing it's either a Coopers or Sharp Shin. Either one may be just the bird a local falconer is looking for a winter project.
Good Luck.

Bring your birds inside before they beat themselves to death in fear, then if after a week if he is still around call the suggested contacts.

On a side note, just in case your thinking about doing the trapping yourself or resorting to something more fatal, just remember that Coopers' Hawk is only doing what it was created to do; eat other birds. It's not that the hawk is mean or evil, it was made a predator to eliminate the sick and old from the jean pool. The sight of your penned up birds fluttering around just screams out "I'm injured or sick, come eat me!" to the Coopers' Hawk. Bring the birds inside and he will most likely move on...
