I have a macaw that does this quack and barely lifts wings almost continuously out of habit ..not a all the way stretched out wing like usual ..its wing is kept more toward the body with a lil quack/grunt... someone understand what this means in bird language?

It possibly sounds like begging behaviour to me. What was going on when he was doing this? What is your birds name and how old is he?

Welcome, lady of few posts! For my JoJo, that is either, oh oh, I want it, or, I think I can!

It doesn't matter what we are doing ..if hes awake hes doing this during head scratches n when hes relax and chill ..hes only 3 months old im hoping its a baby thing

Possibly begging behavior as Plumsmum mentioned, or amping himself up to fly. Could you get video of this?

Definitely sounds like begging.

Our Macaw does the same, kinda just shrugs his wing and grunts. With ours it is usually while he's relaxed. We've always considered it his way of telling us he's happy and life is good. Tesla is 10 months old.

Yes shrugs n grunts ...thats it! ..ill get a video here soon :) thank you

Youtube or photobucket are your best bet, then link it here.

Yep! What Tom said. Just upload your video to YouTube and then click the share options for the web address, copy and paste into your reply window.

Yeah. Those are baby begging behaviors.

Baby big macs aren't all there yet, mentally... it's entirely normal. And it will change dramatically in the next three months or so, when he goes from being not quite all there... to too smart for his own good.

Like when a human baby reaches the point where you put it down, and suddenly it's not where you left it anymore!

Well now I'm curious what he could be begging for. .. we give him lots of attention and fresh food ... could it be formula? I do give him it 2 times a day

When they aren't actually hungry and don't lack anything like attention I think the begging is a comfort to them, like a human baby with a pacifier. As they grow they learn different ways to interact. Simialar to a newborn who wants to eat everytime it sees mom, hungry or not.
