Hi Tikitiel, welcome to the Forums, but I am sorry that it is under these worrying circumstances.

Having a red eye and keeping it closed may well be a sign of respiratory infection, but from this distance it's hard to say for sure and unfortunately we are not avian medical professionals here. It really is something that would need to be diagnosed and treated by an avian vet. If you let us know where in the world you are situated we may be able to help you to find one close to you.

This tutorial may assist you in posting pictures...

Wishing your little one a full and speedy recovery - please keep us posted.

This link may help you to find an avian vet. If there are none in your region, you can contact another one in a neighbouring region and they may be able to assist with either a phone or video consultation, or they may have contact information for vets in your area...

Hope this helps!

I'm very sorry. As I mentioned, there may be one in a neighbouring country or region who may be able to assist, or they might have a colleague in your country. It is also worth trying local zoos, animal parks or bird sanctuaries who will have vets among their staff. Again, if we know where you are, one of our members may have a contact for you.

I wish you the very best of luck in finding assistance for your little one.

Avian specialists are always your best bet, but if none are available then you may have no option but to use a regular vet, or one who also sees "exotics", ie other types of animals as well as the usual cats and dogs. Hopefully the one you will see does know what they're doing and will be able to help.

Please do keep us updated and let us know how you go :)

That's encouraging news, hopefully she will react positively to the eyedrops. Our parrots are a very important part of all our lives here and it affects us deeply when they become ill. Continued best wishes for her full and swift recovery!

Not sure if this helps, but I found a few leads to check out. If nothing else, maybe a consult by phone or video call might be of some assistance. One on LinkedIn: https://sa.linkedin.com/in/ali-aljassem-878799a7
And also a news story showing a bird hospital in Dubai:
I wish you the best in helping your tiel to a quick recovery.

Yes you should 100% use an avian vet if one is available. Birds are so very different from the mammals that regular vets commonly see, so it's best that your tiel sees a specialist. A bird vet will likely get those blood test results back far more quickly too so that effective treatment can begin sooner :)

If not able to find avian vet, I would completly clean the bird's area and be sure adequate fresh air.
Try giving a bath or shower, keep warm. This could be beginning of serious illness. Watch carefully for any changes. Hope this helps
