I would like to introduce myself, and am looking forward to advise, and LOTS of information to make the new addition to our family, comfortable and loving....(hopefully loving) My name is Billie Losciale, and we have recently retired to Mazatlán, Sinaloa, Mexico. I know, I am older, and now I want a bird.....I know they live forever, but I have already spoken to my sons, as to who she will go too at my demise ....Many years ago, I had a wonderful African gray, when we lived on a sailboat.....it went the way with my ex, and ever since then, I have wanted another large bird, a parrot, but never felt the time was right, due to work, traveling, etc. (I am a retired Animal control officer, and love animals in general) We now live here in MX. full time, and perfect weather year round for a lg. bird...we have a home that will adapt well for a bird. I started putting out feelers, and after many offers and advise, yesterday, we went to see a Military Macaw.....she is 2 years old, and it was instant love.....she is beautiful, full feathered, healthy and active. She is stick trained, but I noticed right away, there were no toys for her to entertain herself, and she was only hand fed, no food bowl...only water....after 5 min. of watching her, all she wanted to do was show off, and entertain us.....After talking about her all last night and today, we know we can give her the loving home she needs. We need to go to Texas next week, so will not bring her to her new home until we return, as don't want her to have to get used to a pet sitter, if not nessacery, and will get things there that will make her life more fun.....(parrot toys, etc) I can hardly wait to get back here and bring her home.... I look forward to advise, and how to make her as comfortable in her new home.....we have a beautiful rooftop patio with a screened in area, that we plan to put a "playpen" for her, and the spot for her cage, will be in an alcove that I have my chair that I use to read and spend many hours there, so she will have the human companionship....does anyone have a Military macaw, and can tell me more about them....thanking you in advance, Billie:green1:

Welcome to the forums, Billie, it's nice to have you. :)

You sound so super excited about getting your Military mac soon. What's her name?

We have many big mac lovers/owners here, and I'm sure you'll get all the help you want/ask for. ;)

Her name is Tokie and as soon as I figure out how to post pictures, I will, of the pictures I took yesterday. I see you have 2 dogs one looks like an American Bull dog(Oscar).....I had one years ago......
