Help! Beak cracks? & spots

I rescued a Quaker a few weeks ago. The crack on the side of his beak got longer . The white spot bigger. He gets into a bird bath and cleans himself but the spot comes back as he drys. Anyone knows what this is??? He eats fine, drinks fine.. bathes daily. Plays normal.

I wonder if this bird has had a long-standing respiratory or sinus infection or issue. His nostril should not be enlarged like that. Something is damaging the way the beak grows out; that flaky whitish appearance seems like the layers of the beak are separated a bit.

I would suggest you take this Quaker to an avian vet for a checkup to find out why his beak is damaged like this and if he has had a sinus or nasal infection.

I don’t mean to be unkind but the beak shouldn’t look like that. It should be smooth and horn colored and only have a little bit of flaking on the bottom edge. You shouldn’t be able to see nostrils unless you blow aside or push aside the feathers.

The damage from and away from the nostril appears to be from a sharp edge that your Parrot has found and is rubbing that area against. The sharp edge is likely to be medal and should be filed smooth.
My good friend above has a solid suggest regarding a possible respiratory or sinus infection as a source for the want to rub that area of the upper bill. As stated, see an Avian Vet, ASAP.
The white spot is abnormal and likely carried to that spot by rubbing on a white surface, which then transferred to the bill. That area above the white spot appears to be damaged as well and I am guess so is the area under the white spot. That implies that the cage maybe the source or another white object.
