After I crushed Porter's cage I did one of two things.

Went out and bought a new one of those white cages I had crushed...
And ordered something quite a bit more sturdy.

Then I got to thinking... with pieces I have why not try and make a dual cage for my birds that way I can just cart them all off in one go! No questions and no fuss. And with my Florida trip just around the corner ... and needing travel cages that fold down easily for my flock.. I got excited.

I've measured dimensions..

At the present the best I can do is ..

17x18x18
13x18x18...

I'm trying to move the bars over so its a little more even but there is a piece on the grate that sticks out... I'm pondering clipping that hand hold and bending the pieces over and using it as hooks for the cage so I can seperate RIGHT down the middle half and half with the main door.

But it looks like I will work!

Any ideas please would be wonderful... I'm pondering a cardboard insert instead or as well! So that Porter can't go all attack bird on the poor budgies.

I have some pictures as well... but its just to show you the idea, as it stands the dimensions there were from my first attempt xP lol. The goal is to make it a full 15x18x18 for each side.

Bear in mind that Porter is hardly ever in the cage, this is just for the one or two hours that I go out to dinner and such during the day.
The parakeets get full roaming rights at least until I'm gone, so again... just a three or four hour period a day..

Its my parents beach house and I think it might be fun.
