Help with my eclectus pair

Hi guys I'm new here I would like some help on my pair,
I have a male which is 3 years and 3 months old and my female is around 3 and 1/2 years old . They have been together for about 10 months and I have been watching them very closely and he feeds her sometimes so I put a nest box in and now she had laid two eggs , it's been ten days now and I candle the eggs and they are not fertile , is this a normal thing that happens ???
I've see them in the mornings and is bows in front of him but I've never seen them mate . After ten days should I take the eegs out of the box ??? Should I block her nest box off so they can get a chance mate ?? I'm new at eclectus any info and help would be great or if you need more info I'm happy to help as long as I know that my birds will be ok

You have a fairly young pair then. It's perfectly normal for the first batch (or even the first few batches) not to be fertile.

Can you post a picture of your setup?

I would remove the nest box and actually wait until you see your male mounting the female. It's an act they have to practice Do you have a corner platform perch in the cage with them? They can come in quite handy when they "attempt" to mate. As do perches of rough surfaces (natural branches), so that they don't slip.

What type of Eclectus are they?

I don't recommend you take the eggs, let her sit for 28 days. She will either break the eggs & eat them or they can be removed. If you take them now she will just replace them.

Personally i would block the nestbox off or remove it for another 6 to 12 months. Make sure their diet is balanced. If fed a quality diet that will put them in top condition for breeding.

I have had eclectus breed at 2 & 1/2 years but my most reliable pair were male 4 & female 3 years old, their very first clutch was fertile. I have lost count of the chicks this pair have produced.

Not every pair of eclectus are compatible either. You may have to consider getting another matured male & giving your hen a choice.

Oh WOW! You've got them set up beautifully, that's for sure!

Solomon Island Ekkis "can" be sexually mature at that age, but that doesn't mean they WILL be.

And please, do take Pedro's advice. He is an Ekkie breeder, and it's a breeder that will give you the BEST advice

Stephan I think you need to reconsider the position of your perches.
I would recommend 1 at either end of the cage. 1 in front of the nest box,
the other down the other end. Also i would give them a good solid perch approx as big as your wrist. The ones you have in the cage are a little to low, put them up higher. Other than that everthing looks fine.
