Hi everyone! I've been on here for a fee days and just saw this introduction thread, so I figured I ought to introduce myself and my fids!
My name is Meredith, and I'm a certified Service Dog and Obedience trainer in a good ol' small town in rural MO. I've been owned by birds most of my life, from budgies to macaws, to chickens, ducks, geese and and turkeys (oh and a few guineas as well 😆)...yeah, I run a small farm, too, complete with sheep, horses, and a rescue donkey who strongly despises people.
Growing up we had a normal green and yellow budgie (well, my grandma who I lived with had him, anyway) named Chipper, and for my 10th birthday I got my very own green and yellow budgie that I named Peepers. Of course this was back in the latter part of the mid 1900's so pet bird care wasn't up to the knowledge or standards it is today, especially when it came to understanding the dangers of teflon...anyway,
After graduating high school and having my kiddos, I got a new bird, a cockatiel, named Jingles...he was the coolest little dude and whistled all kinds of show tunes. When my kiddos were old enough they each got to pick out their own birds...my son got a cockatiel that he named Sunny, my daughter a blue budgie she named Skye...gosh this all seems like a lifetime ago, ya know?
Ah, nostalgia. But to this day, my daughter has blue budgies and is teaching her kiddos the joys of owning and caring for birds. My son, on the other hand, is a lifer in the army with his own family too, but they prefer kitties to birds...which is ok too. Lol!
Aaaanyway....currently I have a 6 year old Yellow Sided GCC (he was a big box petstore purchase 😏) and recently I adopted Parsley from an individual who is a 3 year old normal GCC. They're finally cohabitating and seem to be in absolute bliss preening each other.
Then Monday I went to the same box pet store that I got Petey from 6 years ago and brought home Bobby and Bindi the little blue Budgies.
They settled into their new digs really quickly and seem much happier having lots of room to climbing and exploring. I think I ended up with a male and female judging by their ceres, but I'm no expert on evaluating baby budgie ceres...
So, there's part of my life story with birds...I figured by now y'all probably needed another pot of coffee, so we'll save the rest of the story for another day. 😉
I really enjoy reading all the posts so far and hope to get to know everyone!

Greetings!
Beautiful birds and yes you have a girl budgie (on the left) and a boy (on the right). Both are very young- about 4 months old.
I currently have 20 budgies (yup, too many) and I love them all.

Hi there @4Fids, I'm so glad to welcome you and your beautiful flock to the forums! Please tell me, did you happen to name Bobby and Bindi after Steve Irwin's kids?

Lol! Yes I did! 😁
Thank you so much for the warm welcome!

Thank you!
I had a feeling with the white around Bindi's nostrils, but I just wasn't sure. Thank you for confirming that! 🥰

I couldn't resist! 😄
I loved following Steve Irwin and all the incredible education he shared about the natural world...I figured it was a small way to give tribute to the Irwin family. 🥰
