I'm a photographer and author. My little babe, Uglow, is a Solomon Island Eclectus who turns 10 this month! We've been together since he was weened.

He enjoys nature sounds, apples, blueberries, popcorn, pinatas, and trips out into the world in his bird bag. He LOVES people and saying hi to everyone on the street.

He does NOT like unknown hallway or house-settling noises, ambulances, or surprise parties.

Uglow recently hit puberty, which seems to have escalated his hand fetish that I've been trying to gently break for a couple of years. Suggestions are welcome!

There's lots of information here about hormones! Numerous members, myself included, and my avian vet report this year compaion bird hormonal behavior has been a long and intense. Check out the numerous threads.

Welcome to you and Uglow! He's gorgeous Not that I'm a little ekkie biased I love the picture of him getting in your face. My Tucker lives to do that with me. Demanding kisses ALL. THE. TIME. Such a little love bug!

Yeah, the ekkie boys and their, ummm... desires. I'm fortunate that my guy isn't tooooooo bad with that, but it happens. My best "solution" is basically to remove access. If he starts rubbing, I tell him it's not okay and put him somewhere else. A chair , his tree, something. Not as punishment of any kind, just so he learns that continuing the behavior won't get him attention. Regurge, same deal. Consistency, every time. Basically the shunning method often used for unwanted behaviors. Luckily he seems to have gotten the point and it's pretty rare these days. He still tries with other people once in a while, usually because they're not familiar with what he's actually doing. My adult daughter once thought he was wagging his tail and was so happy with how cute he was, and then was totally grossed out when I told her he was having his way with her hand. Lol!

My boy LOVES the hands. Haha - thank you. I've been able to reduce how often he "asks" by doing what you describe... so maybe eventually he will try less!
