Well Hong Kong to be more exact. But i will be in mainland China in a few days. I am over here 2x a year for business and some free time on the weekends. this trip I will be spending The Weeknd in Hong Kong and I intend on visiting the bird market here, which is supposed to be very famous. the way it is described is lots of older men taking their birds out in the morning to show them off, and then I will be visiting the actual bird markets. I will not be bringing any birds back to the United States because of the importation hassles but it will be interesting to see the different species that are available here in Asia. I will be taking lots of pictures and I hope that the authorities will not be confiscating my camera hahaha. I also worry a lot about my little salty. My wife has tons of written instructions on taking care of him, and she has been working on interacting with him for the last two weeks. we have even set up a Skype account so that he can see me when I call them up. that's all for now, pictures and more text in a few days.

Hi Albert! Stay safe, and we can't wait to see pictures of your adventure. :)

Salty and your wife will undoubtedly both be very happy once you get back home. :)

Can't wait to see photos! Have a lovely time.

welcome to the forum. I understand about the Skype.
I had to travel to Texas for business and used it to talk to and se my flock.
was very nice way to interact at a distance.
looking forward to seeing your pictures.

Enjoy your trip, Albert! Looking forward to the pics, and I hope all goes well with your wife and Salty. Who knows? Maybe they'll bond during your absence.

Hey Albert! Thanks for sharing the experience! Looking forward to photos and more news about your trip. Love the skyping with Salty idea.

My wife and I have spent quite a bit of time traveling around Vietnam and Cambodia and visiting their bird markets and seeing the birds out on the street. A lot of mynah birds, and while they're great to see and hear, it can be depressing to see them in these tiny round cages out in the heat.

Enjoy your trip and please take lots of pictures!!

Oh, poor me. I just happened to have hit Tanxia, in Guangdong exactly as the same day the Mrs. World beauty pageant is going on. I have been going around and telling Mrs (pick a country) that hey I am from there, too, and would she take a picture with me. Its been working great until I got to Mrs. Mongolia..... she didnt believe I was from Mongolia. Imagine that. No parrots so far, but frankly who cares.. too many pretty women to care about birds just now.

Hahahahaha! Poor you, indeed. How about next time I go in your stead? Take the bullet for you with all those beautiful women so that you can focus on seeing those birds?

I can fully see you enjoying this.

Haha! I can, too!

I promise to get back to reporting on parrots by Sat. For now, I am enjoying the 'birds' far too much. Remember , what happens in China stays in China ( unless it comes knocking at your door 9 months later).

Well back in Hong Kong after a grueling 2 days of visiting factories in some of the nastiest neighborhoods you would ever want to see. China does have some amazingly beautiful natural areas but not in the areas that I have been working in. Southern China is where everything is manufactured from ball bearings tomedical equipment to
bottle caps to cigarette lighters. tomorrow I will be working in Hong Kong at my companies office there. Hong Kong is a lot more like downtown Manhattan and is a lot cleaner. However the roadways are completely confusing, like somebody dropped a bowl full of noodles onto an island and said let's make the roadways like this. And they drive on the wrong side of the road. Saturday morning is when I will visit the bird market, and visit the Hong Kong Zoo specifically to look at the Aviary section. Alas no more Mrs. World beauty pageant.

Your trip sounds fascinating. I'd love to visit Asia. I hope the birds you see are and pretty as the Mrs World contestants LOL.

Yes that would be a bit of a shock if someone turned up to ask you to put a ring on it LOL :D

Looking forward to the bird market reviews though.
