His ring is starting to come in!

I'm so excited! When I came home today, I saw his first couple of black feathers showing! My little boy is growing up. He's just a month over a year and a half now, so I'm actually quite surprised his ring is coming in so early. But very, very ecstatic! He's going to look so handsome [emoji3]

Thanks everyone! I'm very surprised too, William. I wasn't expecting the transition to happen for awhile, but I guess his feathers are just ready to go! That's also the one thing that surprised me with IRN's that you never really read about, or at least has been the case for me - they moult exceptionally hard! Every time he's moulted it's been a huge amount in one go, not slowly and over certain periods of time like Avery. I'm curious to see just how many black feathers will come in [emoji16] I'll post pictures as his feathers continue to pop out.

Wow! So just to update... I never expected nearly ALL of Shiko's black feathers to come in [emoji33] He moults rather hard every time, so in a way it doesn't surprise me... but honestly, I was only expecting a few black feathers here and there. Here's some photos:







His white feathers along the back have yet to develop further, but they are also slowly coming in:

It's been awhile since I've updated, but I figured I should wait until he was done moulting. It took awhile, but he's back to his fully feathered and handsome self! Here's a few pictures of his handsome new ring [emoji4]







I'm genuinely curious how often the ring comes in this quickly. I was expecting it to be slow, but Shiko just dove right into getting his ring! My little boy must want to grow up too quickly for his own good. I'm still slightly shocked that in just 4 months he'll be two and Avery will be three. How time flies!
