My SC cockatoo has been plucking for two seasons and X-rays shows she is hormonal and probably overly bonded with me. We used the Supraline implant which was implanted 4 weeks ago. But so far no success. I have taken all seed out of her diet she has Pellets and fruit and veg plus her aviary when she’s in it is full of native species for her to chew on plus lots of chew toys.
I have had to put her Elizabethan collar back on but she destroys it within days.
Did anyone have success with a hormone implant and did it take longer than 3 weeks to start working.
What else could I try it breaks my heart seeing my best friend pulling her chest feathers out.

I have 0 experience or knowledge about this. She's had her behavior for a few years. I suspect that it's going to take more then a few weeks to alter her behavior. At routine avian vet appointment I complained (again) about hormone related behavior. I was instructed distract bird. Bounce & catch a tennis ball, drop something, play with my dog, increase and make my movements random, get the feathered individual more interested in watching me. Also up the difficulty of toys. My CAG loves to untie knots. So parrot resistant cord with knots on end threaded through a Kong. She works on it for minutes at a time.

Sometimes, plucking can become a habit. Here's hoping you can find answers soon! :O

So many birds and their humans seem to be having plucking problems. If you haven't already, you should read the active thread Salty is in trouble with plucking". There's a lot of good discussion and information in there, including a link to an avian vet/rescuer/researcher who has theories and treatment ideas to think about. I truly hope you find a solution.
