Just had to ask this to see where they are popular and how common they are on the pet trade in the US.

I obtained one during the summer and it was basically by accident. I expected a Indian Ringneck but arrived to see that it was an Alexandrine.

I'm pretty sure this was the only one that I had ever seen being "sold".

So, what are the numbers like for the species and who has seen them in pet shops, online etc.

They aren't unusual in the US. They're not as common or popular as the IRN, but still not considered rare or uncommon. Beautiful birds.

Agreed. A friend of mine has 5. I don't see them staying long in many homes. Similar to irns, they seem to be very much misunderstood and often rehomed. People aren't prepared for a beak that size on a bird with that temperament. Lovely birds though, very smart, and with the cutest voices!
