I've been poking around this forum for a week or so now, so I decided I better register and join the fun.

A bit about me: I have kept birds for about 25 years, starting with parakeets and love birds, progressing to owning larger parrots now, and running the "bird department" of a local rescue. We are actually primarily a dog rescue, but as our shelters found out that I have birds of my own, I have been frequently asked to take in rescue birds, so I officially added the "Exotics" department to our rescue. We also rescue reptiles. In addition, I do the Petfinder listings for a different parrot-only rescue nearby, and I work part time at my local animal shelter as a dog evaluator. On top of that, I actually have a "real" job that has nothing to do with animals, but pays the bills so I can enjoy my hobbies.

I enjoy reading and learning more about all of the animals I work with, and I'm especially interested in gaining more skill at reading and handling birds I don't know. I feel that is one area that I can improve on a lot.

So, those are the basics about me! If you want to know anything else, just ask! I'll work on getting pics uploaded so you can see my beauties.

lene-- most of the birds are mine that I am keeping, although they came to me originally as rescues (all except the Hawk heads). There are a couple of them, however, that are available for adoption to the right homes. We post the available animals on Petfinder and screen applications to find good matches. Overall, my rescue has 8 available birds for adoption, but the others are in other foster homes!
