I have not been online, we've been working with family on recovering from Hurricane Harvey. My fids have been good but I lost my favorite baby Venus, my Ekkie. A massive loss and I reported it to the group. I have buried myself to cope. I miss her so much, she was so amazing.

So this past week, we received new floors (YES)! What a difference! But the point of this post is I believe BUZZ (my African Gray) LOVES ME!!!!!!!!! But no touching allowed!

I purchased Buzz just over two years ago, he has very low trust values. Many on here have been positive and encouraging, some AGs do not like touching, Buzz hates touching. I have a 27 yo Mexican Redhead, he wants head scratches, so I was confused trying to please Buzz.

We went through hurricane Harvey, minimal damage but this summer got the opportunity to update our floors. As a precaution, I took Buzz (AG) and Buddy (Mexican Redhead, Amazon) to my mother's to stay overnight. The floors were completed quickly. Buzz, my AG was angry, he would take treats and throw them down, he was silent at my parents' while he was there.

I arrive at my parents' to pick Buzz and Buddy up, both started singing and whistling, mimicking my calls. My parents said both had been silent since I dropped them of. Buzz does not want to be touched but given here he was silent at my parents, didn't reanimate till I arrived, that's something.

Then the next morning, he wouldn't stop with his sounds, so I believe I am loved by Buzz, but NO TOUCHING!!!! LOL!!! Thoughts!!??

I missed y'all!
Hey, Buzz knows what he likes. Listen, don't touch!
Buzz's rules. :)

Yep! Smokes was the exact same way  DON'T Touch Me! DON'T try and Skritch Me! or I will growl and bite your finger(s) off! BUT I'll grurgle in your ear, puke on your shoulder,WOO in your face, pull your hair and bang my beak on your forehead...BUT DON'T TOUCH ME ;)!

My AG wont let me scratch her but she lets my wife scratch her until my wife's fingers are just about worn out.
go figure.

Our grey Debbie loves her head scratched, on her terms, and they can be confusing...she’ll sit and say “pretty girl” and bend her head down....her cue...usually, sometimes it’s a trick...although she doesn’t really bite, she grabs my finger and moves it away and tells me “no” in this little voice....other times she’ll sit for ever being scratched and when you stop she wants more! Same with playing with her toes...she’ll tell me to “touch your toes” and either move my fingers away or happily say...good girl...I keep telling her I’m not a girl..lol

I'm very sorry for your loss. I can't even imagine.

Glad you are getting back on your feet, (so to speak) after the hurricane.

Happy to hear about your 2 yr old Buzz, that's Awesome!!
Levi allows touching & kissing a lot. However, my only battle is with touching his wings & tail. It wouldn't be an issue except I'm trying to put a harness on him, now that I let his wings grow in.
I've gotten his head through, but man does he hate his wings touched. If I didn't want him to wear the harness, I wouldn't care one bit.

Congratulations on being LOVED by your Grey!! I know the feeling & its wonderful!!

I'm so glad you are making progress after the awful hurricane. My grey ET (TAG) loathes touching, but I can make occasional head scritches while he is eating an almond of bribery! Rest assured Buzz does love you, but in his own way and quite different from other species.

:) they where clearly happy to see you so yes they love you. As said, play within boundaries I'd say. When they mould do they still not like head scratches?

Our CAG would step up, but skritches were DEFINITELY OUT...for about 3 long years.

One day, he decided he wanted them after all, and now he's an inveterate skritchaholic (only from his mommy, though! Daddy - me, that is - isn't welcome to try, if I value keeping my digits.

Never say never!

Awwww come on now!
They need a little animal protein and what's a little tissue and blood loss in the quest of parrontage.:D

My CAG is the same way. Doesn't care for being touched too much. Head scratches only on his terms.
Buy constantly calls me for attention. When I approach the cage to head scratch he backs off.

I totally missed your Thread when it first appeared. Very sorry for your loss!

Wow, Buzz has a thing for you! That is great news.
