Parrots
See siggie :)
Okay, not a parrot.
A silvereye.
Think small, nectar eating bird that is less than a third the size of a pet type budgie.

Anyhow, two kids put it under a bush and told me to stay away and leave it alone. Well, I'm not one to stand back and let something die without trying, so I got out first at recess and nicked it.
Then it spent the rest of the day in my locker :p
Until I carried him home in my pocket and popped him in my hospital cage.
Made some sugar water and he's had about 8ml, which is a lot for a bird who weighs 10g.
Got some juicy apple, electroytes and a syringe hanging up with sugar water in it.

Hope he makes it because I'm really attached already!

Love Ratzy

lol thats a cute story :)
I hope s/he lives and stays healthy

Good luck and thank you for trying to save this little one...I have my fingers crossed.

He/she made the night and I didn't get much sleep lol. It's so much easier than I though it would be to feed him/her. She/he just pokes her tiny little beak through the syringe hole ( like she would a flower I suppose ) and slurps it all up. I hung it so she could drink in the night and when she ran out ( about 3 times ) she drove me crazy, hopping in and out of my hospital cage ( yep, but she goes straight back in lol ). When ( when!!! ) she's better and flying properly will I have to wean her back into the wild, or will she be fine if I just let her go?
I'll take her outside today to see if she'll eat some bugs and nectar, and then I'll see if I can get proper stuff for her.

Well, I rang the local wildlife carer and she came round to have a look and gave me some proper food for my little one. She thinks it's just hit a window and got concussion, so should be right in a few days.
And I suppose you'll want pics?

She's a cute little bird!!! We plant a bunch of flowering bushes to attract humming birds and butterflies. We love watching them coming around. :)

Ratzy I salute you always coming to the rescue and going the extra mile.
I AM SO PROUD OF YOU....... I wish other youngsters your age would follow in your footsteps, what a better world this would then be.
Enjoy the bird, I know you will do the right thing, follow your gut feeling and go with it okay

She made another night with me :) but still can't fly :(

It's weird, if you think about it she's a wild bird, yet she's not frightened at all of humans and takes food from me off a spoon and syringe. And she's not a baby. If she's not flying by the end of the day I may have to give her to the wildlife carer, she eats 5ml in 30 minutes, and I'm at school. Or I could take her to school lol. Or I could give her to dad to syringe feed at his school ( my parents are teachers ).
I tried to get her to fly yesterday, but she was pretty uncoordinated and just went down.
