I got some Tombow markers a while back, and you have to use a very different technique than with sharpies or other 'regular' markers. You more use them like watercolor with a lot of blending and shading. I've been practicing and have gotten a bit better. Decided to draw another picture of my most favorite subject and it actually came out halfway decent. Still working on my blending/shading technique with these, but I figured I'd shared anyways since it's a pretty decent "portrait":D

April, that looks awesome! Kiwi is such a beautiful subject:)

that is wonderful! very inspiring! i used to attempt realistic pencil sketches of my chickens when i was young, but 3 hens in a row died shortly after i drew them. :'( i was so devastated that ever since them ive never drawn any of my pets. id love to, but its prolly just some sort of silly superstition ive developed from that. i absolutely love your picture though! :D do you draw him in person or go from still pictures?

Oh that came out nice April! I really like that :). I've never heard of watercolor markers, how interesting. Looking forward to seeing more in the future!

I can't draw a stick figure with 2 legs the same length.

Looks awesome!

Beautifully done!!!! I love that you have more than just the bird as a bit of background is complimentary but not overwhelming! Thanks for sharing!!

Really beautiful!

Nice, April! Thanks for sharing! I'm sure Kiwi is quite pleased with his likeness.

I hope you keep posting your renderings as you make them.

Oh that's really cool.

I collect Paintings of Parrots. My Living room has water colors, oil paintings,
from various artists from parrots to many different species of birds. I have so
many that I have them spread over 3 rooms now.

I'll have to video them or take a few pic's and share them on here.
Some were painted nearly 100 years ago, some are from
different countries I picked up while visiting. Just had to have them.

Wow amazing work, gorgeous piece, well done!

Thanks everyone! I want to do one of Leo and Mr. Newt as well soon (and I'll post them when I do).
