Original blood test showed one of my rescues (remember, both on only a seed diet before I received them) had a Uric Acid a bit high and an issue with a cell count. The repeat test (after about 6 months on pellets) came back with very high counts of protein, glucose, uric acid and SGOT (AST). Vet wants to recheck because she doesn't act like a sick bird.
She still acts pretty much the same as she has since I got her (randomly nice to me, later in the evening she is usually a sweetheart- but hissy and don't come near me quite often during the course of a day). Again - she had this attitude not long after I first brought her home (which was good - she looked like she was in a comatose state when I first got her).
So - questions: I know they have limited blood, will it hurt to have it drawn again? Don't want to ask the vet and appear like an idiot. Forum folks can consider me an idiot (note my name and the fact that I never had a bird and adopted 2 rescue amazons).
IF these values wind up being true . . . . I read on the internet about a holistic medication you could add that was like a miracle drug (aloe detox). Any possible truth to that or has anybody out there ever used it?
And before you respond - know that I do trust my vet and he is an Avian vet.
