I came across this today while I was on the computer.
It disgusts me to see the 'behind the scenes' bird mills, which isn't very often if at all.

the only thing I was relieved about was that the birds were not packed in like sardines.

At least the cages are large, and fairly clean.

click on the link below, then click on the picture and it will take you to the next one and so on...there is about 20 pictures

Are you sure this is a bird mill? I didn't see a single nest box.

It's not open to the public, those are the workers children. It's a locally run about 30 minutes from here.

they sell to dealers, stores etc..., I may have been misinformed about the bird mill part, from someone else....my apologies.

Sodakat, look closely at the 29 second video of the budgies.....there are nest boxes in those flock cages.....

I wonder if they even feed the betta fish at all... shipment comes in on Monday and they are all sold by Thursday so no water changes... but food?

I can't say that place is a bird mill - as in it's a bad place, but I don't know what their routine practices and care are for the birds, either... all I saw available was seeds. Do they offer pellets too? Do they offer fresh foods? I don't know...

The major thing I didn't like was all the metal perches... I can understand the reason for using them (easy to disinfect), but I don't like them....

Below is a 5 page article, of which I've only read the first page of... and if I understood it correctly, the Humane Society considers Howard Voren to be the owner of a bird mill... in a bad sense. Ionno what to think....

No-Fly Zone: Denied Their Natural Habits, Millions of Pet Parrots Lead Bleak, Lonely Lives : The Humane Society of the United States

Howard Voren is a highly respected breeder within the breeding community... he has apparently done a lot for aviculture.

I didn't care much for the metal perches either.

the picture with the critter containers on the floor>>one is labelled PetSmart in Calgary(yellow label), I can't make out other ones.
