Is chittamwood safe for birds?

We are adopting a baby cinnamon green cheek conure in a week or two. We are trying to find a tree in our yard that we can use to make a playstand. We have a chittamwood tree that had some nice branches but I cannot find if it is safe or not. I've searched several websites with lists of sage and unsafe trees but it's not listed! Does anyone here know?

Safe and Dangerous Woods

Here's a list of woods that are safe and unsafe.

I do not see chittamwood on the list so I'm going to assume it isn't safe just to be safe.

That says the tree has several other names. One being ironwood which is on the safe lists. These trees are not native to our state and this is the first time we've even seen one (just moved here a few months ago). So, we really do not know much about them at all.

and thank you for the link! I actually have it saved already it is the most comprehensive list I have found so far! I wasn't trying to be rude or dismissive. Just wondering if anyone more familiar with these trees knows this to be true?

I'd suggest identifying the tree and finding the scientific name, some common names are hard use.

Needing to make sure this is safe!

I asked this in another area but no one knew. We have a tree in our yard that we are told is a chittamwood (looks exactly like the pictures when we were researching). We've never heard of this species of tree and it took a few people to identify it as it is not native here and normally does not grow well. Anyways, we have an awesome branch that fell and we'd LOVE to use it as a playstand and branches for the cage. They are amazing and very well shaped for these purposes but I want to be 100% sure it's safe! I cannot find anything about chittamwood on any of the bird safe wood websites that I have found. However, when researching chittamwood, we have found that it is also called ironwood. We have seen ironwood on a few safe lists. Does anyone know that chittamwood and ironwood are indeed the same tree and if it is safe to use?

I combined your threads, as they are asking the identical question.

After doing a bit of research, I found the tree is called Bumelia lanuginose

And while doing further searches, I can't find it listed under 'safe' wood anywhere, but neither under 'unsafe' wood.
