Is Pine shaving bedding is it safe?

I am getting tired of the newspaper look for my manzanita bird stand. I was thinking of putting pine shavings in replace of that and still keep newpaper in his cage. I have been reading mix reviews about it being safe. My stand is about 6 feet tall and from the first branch to the floor is about 3 1/2 feet. If it is not safe is there something else I can use? Would carefresh be any safe too?

As far as I know the only safe bedding is the newspaper. Other products can harbor mold and make the bird sick.

News paper ink is not harmful anymore since the ink is vegetable based now . Where did you hear or see it is harmful . I have been using newspaper for yrs now and I can assure you my birds are happy and healthy . Some birds eat that bedding you are talking about and get bowl obstructions and if not emergency treated they die . Please dont use anything but newspaper . Good luck .
