I've recently purchased a new budgie, do you think it is a boy or a girl?

Yeah, we just got him. He's really active and he sings and such so I think he might be a boy.

Thank you so much! He's really active too. Running around and swinging and singing. All in a brand new home. So I'm leaning towards male as well. My female just isn't as social so I was hoping for a boy.

He's so adorable. I absolutely love the cuteness of Budgies. Looks like a 'dominant pied'. I'm not sure, but I think when it's mature, will have a cere color like a normal? Then there's double factor dominant, which might be different (?) and I'm not sure how to tell by looking...
My Twigs is a recessive pied which males and females both have pink ceres.
I know "some" basics about this but haven't studied extensively enough to know beyond that. You can google info from Budgie websites

Twigs is a boy. Since he tends to be (and has always been no matter what) not as tameable and friendly as males usually are, we initially thought he was a female. He was DNA'd male.
I haven't had too much Budgie experience, but hopefully your little one will be friendly .

You can tell by the pink cere with pale blue around the nostrils. In females, the cere is blue with white around the nostrils.

Behaviour isn't a reliable way to sex a bird, just as it wouldn't be a reliable way to sex a human.

Thanks! I know it isn't the most reliable to go off of temperament, but I was using it as a barometer. Even if he is a girl he's super sweet so that's all I really wanted.

My little boys were so similar to yours. Is that lighter shade around the nostrils white or just light bluish? If it's white "he" could be a girl, just sayin If the cere gradually turns all deep blue it's a boy for sure.
