I bought home a Nanday conure yesterday. I've found some pink/reddish spots on both of his eyelids, essentially in the same location. At first I thought and was told it is just color, but I have some doubts. Before I go running to the vet in panic, I'd run it by here. Here are the pictures:
Right eye:

Left eye:

There are eyelashes where the relatively darker red spots are. The eyes are not wet.

Thanks much for any help.

Since you just got him yesterday, it wouldn't be a bad thing to have him examined by a vet anyway. It's hard to tell what those spots are, I know my macaws gets blushed or they can get bruises in that area easily. But when it happens on both sides, that's hard to know.

I also thought it was strange that it was on both sides. If it was just a minor scratch or something it would be on one side only. Better to get it checked out. Also good to get a "new bird check up" with an avian vet anyway. Good luck.

Nandays are gorgeous! Congrats.

I'd be wondering what he's doing inside the cage, such as, was he sticking his head between the bars?

Rather strange that it appears on both eyes.

For peace of mind I would definitely take him to the vet.
Rather be safe than sorry.
