Hi Everyone, Today the DNA results came back and I selected my new baby. HE is a yellow-sided green cheek conure. His hatch date was 9/23/10 and I guess he will be coming home to me in December. He is special because it is the first time the breeding pair had all 5 eggs hatch. He is lucky #5! His breeder is amazing and stays in almost constant contact with me. She updates me with photos and is always available to answer my questions. The process so far has been so enjoyable and I am looking forward to the transition into my home and household. So far, so good... Yay! Thanks for all the great information... Will.

This is awesome!!!!! You have gone about getting a parrot the right way!!!! Im so glad that the breeder is helpful and judging by her friendly nature really cares about the parrots she breeds. Cant wait to see your pics when he arrives. Have you thought of any names yet?

This is my first time using a breeder for any pet, and I couldn't be happier. She only raises one clutch at a time and I think he will be so tame and happy after all her attention. It is amazing to watch him change and grow and the colors are turning out so amazing!

I think he will be called "Memo" short for Guillermo. I am naming him after me! LOL.

I cannot wait to share the photos of this cute, tiny guy...

Its going to great watching him grow and see pics on the forum. You must be so so excited and I just love shopping my lil gal. I spend more on her than myself - lol!!!!

Have you bought any stuff yet? Im not sure what your experience is but when buying anything from a petshop make sure you disinfect it or wipe down the bag of food etc. Disease can be carried in the dust of birds' feathers and sometimes they get stacked near the birds and you can carry home something from the stuff you buy without even knowing it.

Do you have any pics of "Memo" from the breeder? If you please please put them on the forum Would love to see him

I have been shopping non-stop, and think I have just about everything I will need. I do most of the shopping on-line and really avoid pet shops. I have to put myself on a buying freeze for now, as I want to get him home before I go too far overboard... But, you are right, it is a lot of fun!

While I am at it, I thought I would share a pic my little guy's parents. Mom is a Pineapple and Dad is a Yellow-Sided/Cinnamon split. The colors are amazing and they do make pretty babies... (not to brag!) Thanks and enjoy!

Here's the latest picture of my boy... His name is Guillermo or "Memo". I am amazed at how quickly he grows and changes! He is turning out to be exactly what I wanted (as far as looks go!). Getting him home and getting to know will be a different story I have no doubt.

It seems like a great advantage that his breeder gives him so much attention and so far he is comfortable with hands, etc.

I wish he was around today... Its a dreary NY day and I we could use some color and a boost of energy around here.
