I hope everything works out. It's an unfortunate fact of parrot life. They spook and flight fueled by evolution motivates them.. A shadow, a color, a sound, a movement, a doorbell, door knock anything! It can be something that they have seen or heard daily, hundreds or thousands of times. My first CAG was a panic flyer. He'd be fine out of cage for months. Then the blinds would rattle or the air would trigger. Then he was off. My avian vet told me to put up room dividers. Shower curtain rods with heavy curtains to limit areas at door ways. This after he flew through a very large room, bedroom, into the closet and hit the wall. I was fortunate his group was part of an after hours clinic. I agree with you about the vet bill. Again I hope everything works out.
