Okay, thanks Owlet. From experience, it's a freaking pain the the butt to get a hold of animal shelters. The local one? Easy as pie. But not for the Toronto Humane Society (it was a nightmare trying to adopt Rumi, Lara, and Pollo) or Kitchener-Waterloo Humane Society (phoned them more than a dozen times). I guess I'll phone again to see how they're progressing. Not sure if it would be too much for them to post more photos.
I will tell you I had a terrible night. Abby, our young, 3 lb. chihuahua, collapsed in the hallway onto her side, and started kicking her legs like she was running, and couldn't stand up. She got pale and started breathing weirdly, and she was disoriented. It took her at least twenty minutes to recover. Honestly, I thought she was going to die. So my parents took her to the emergency vet over 40 minutes away. When they got back, less than 20 minutes later, she was eat her kibble when her legs suddenly gave out, she fell on her side, and started kicking her legs and looked like she was convulsing. Phoned the emergency vet, and we were told to keep an eye on her (this was around 11). When Mom took her to bed at 1, Abby just started screaming and went limp. My dad thought it was a death howl or something. Abby's really tough and doesn't cry, but she was just screaming, so they brought her back to the vet and didn't come home until 5 am. Her liver, blood sugar, and heart seem normal, so we're wondering if it's the meds she started taking yesterday for her chest infection. We honestly thought she wouldn't make the night. She's only 4.
Honestly, it looked like death convulsions or something, or like she'd been poisoned. I watched a lot of Animal Cops and vet shows when I was younger (and I've seen a number of my animals die, sadly), and it looked like that. Honestly, we had a terrible night. We're contacting our regular vet to see if the meds might be the problem, because this all started 30 minutes after she took her pills last night.
