Hi Everyone,

After hearing Terry’s Phoe BW results I tried searching for why this happens to our feathered friends, unfortunately to no avail.

So, I’m hoping with all the experience and knowledge within this community you can educate me and other members about this horrific disease.

Thank you in advance for your input.

Kidney disease can come from toxins, from a current infection, from a past infection that scared the kidney, from old age, from stones, from long term poor diet, from cancer, some types of parasites, from diabetes, that's all I can think of, and gout as mentioned by Ellen..

Wow, that’s a lot. And very similar to us. So, even on the best diet they can still get it. That’s a shame. 💔
Thank you both for your replies. I appreciate it.

It's worth noting that many antibiotics can damage the kidney or liver, but that falls under toxin..in this case the toxin is the medicine, either because some medicine is just harder for kidney to process or from prolonged use, or overdose. I had septic shock and even though I didn't have a kidney infection, the kidney was processing the toxins from the bacteria causing me temporary kidney damage. I had an abscess that from the outside didn't look like much, so I was left in the er waiting room for eight hours, until I had a septic seizure, and blood work and x-ray showed the abcess was very large internally....now any time I have medicine I have to have kidney value checked, but so far always ok now :)
