Local CAG for sale

As some of you may know I am house sitting in Oregon right now.
Because I will likely be moving up here in less than a year I regularly check social media looking at cages for sale.
The more I can have pre staged up here the better it will be to hit the ground running.
But I got a surprise in finding this CAG for sale with cage.
At first several things looked like red flags for a scam .
But I visited with the bird in question and she is quite real.

The cage is not in great shape.
The bird is in very good shape.
Not going to give too much information here but she is less than 5 years old.
Spent about an hour with her today and the main reason she isn’t sitting here with me is cuz the bank was closed.
Monday is a holiday and the bank should have been open but wasn’t.

I don’t think I slept more than 2 hours last night thinking about this.

This bird is going to be sold to someone.
The owner needs the cash for lawyers (send lawyers, guns, and money).
And I’m not saying more than that.
He seems like an upright guy in a bad situation, one I can understand.

But…..
If I buy her here and now I’m going to have to travel back home 700 miles with her riding shotgun.
How can I keep her safe the first time I have to stop for a restroom break?
If I buy her now I have to go through the kitchen and remove all the teflon cookware and replace with bird safe cookware.

If all that goes well she needs to fit into our household and end up coming back up when we move.

She’s reasonably friendly. She let me scratch her head and neck and didn’t want me to stop. Not real good at stepping up for me

My says one thing and the logical “Mr Spock” side says something else.

I have until Tuesday (when the banks are open) to make a decision.

I traveled alone and took my CAG cage and all in facilities. You've got a hard decision.

Not really. I have no set timetable for the move up.
Too many things need doing before I’m ready to commit to the move.

Only thing that has a chance of working is to leave her for my stepmother to care for.
I don’t trust her to know how.
It’s possible she might welcome the opportunity.
She recently said goodbye to her last Bengal cat and I know she misses him.
But she is nearly deaf, if she (the bird)got into trouble she might never notice until it’s too late.
And in that case I might just as well let someone else buy her.

I got to think what’s best for the bird to.
At least I know the proper way to care and feed her.
Could be bought by some Joe Shmow with a pocket full of cash and without a clue anywhere on him.

But I can’t save every hard luck case I come across.

Buy the bird. Dont worry bout the trip. My housemate just drove from Fla to NYC in one shot and both did just fine. Make sure the bird can see out windows and surroundings. Man up and relieve yourself by the side of the road, just like God intended.

Ive been drinking Gatoraid lately instead of soda.
The empty bottles are just the right size to go #1 in.
And I’m planning on taking my father’s 4X4 pickup for the trip.
It sets higher than the average vehicle so only the 18 wheelers would be able to see in.

I made the trip up here once in a neighbor’s truck driving through the night. We stopped at a rest stop and the bathroom was flooded. I waded in and relieved myself, spent several minutes after walking in the grass to clean off shoes.
When I got back he said he just went behind a tree.
Sometimes we get so……indoctrinated in the “proper” way to do things that we don’t consider alternatives.

That’s one of the nice things about the 15 acres of property up here. Nobody around cares if you water a tree or bush around the house. And it rains enough I could pee in the same spot for long time without worrying about smell or anything.
