That is too cute! My Turquoise GCC Buddy does a similar thing for the opposite reason - he is recently clipped for the first time in his life, and doesn't yet understand how to climb instead of fly. He will be glad to be flighted again!
he's not too attention-needy most the time, unless we pick him up and carry him around with us. So moments like this are very appreciated! 
Just reassures me that he DOES love his human flock, he just likes bird companionship.
