And put it together! :D Took me nearly 2 hours, *whew*!

And just to see what would happen, I put Stormy inside it and closed the door, and he absolutely HATED it. He was jumping on the sides trying to fiind a door, and screaming at me to get him out, so I went and helped the poor bird. He has a hatred for cages though, and I just wanted to see if he would like a much larger one.

I love the cage though! It's big and rectangular and the wrought iron is pretty. There were a few minor imperfections, but I put it together without having to bend anything back into shape, so it's okay. I can't wait to start building the playgym on top and making toys to put inside!

Anyone have any toy ideas?

I have sisal, old t-shirts, ribbon, popsicle sticks of different widths, and paper... I also have embroidery thread (the string you make friendship bracelets with). Is that safe for birds? I know yarn isn't good, but embroidery thread isn't fuzzy on the outside. I'm also going to cut up the dowel perches that it came with once I get some natural perches.
I'm going to check out the DIY section now, but if anyone has any good toy ideas please tell me! :D

Hey - well that is a nice cage! I just got mine a week and a half ago. Thank goodness it was SSooooo easy to put together. EZ Care must mean EZ put together too! I have put together a similar cage to what you have before though, and I know it can be hard.
Congratz - if I find out any good toy ideas, I'll let u know!

Oh, how exciting!
The cage looks absolutely amazing.
As for toy ideas I can't help you out there since I am the most unskilled person in crafts so I always have to buy my birdies toys. :)

I have EXACTLY the same cage... for my 5 finches... and got it brand new online "for a song". They seem to love it. It is a very nice cage and well constructed. But it is intended to give space for small birds to fly around. If your bird has a dislike for cages, then he's not going like that one or any other cage for that matter.

Suggestion: Get an assortment of finches to occupy the new cage and put a jungle gym on top of it for your other bird. Hehe.

woohoo Boo what a lovely surprise when you got home from school and it was worth it putting it all together, it's a shame stormy don't like but there is a way to get him used to his new home and that is is coax him with his favourite treat and toy, it might work it may not. Try it and let me know. I wished I could help you on the materials with in making new toys for him. Have a look on the net that might have some tips on there what you and can't use.

ahhh...You've got a Whiteface Cockatiel, one of my favorite.... He'll get used to the cage, they all hate new cages....All mine hated the aviary when I bought it....Now they act like nothing happened and loves being inside...Nothing a bunch of treats couldn't solve to make them happy...lol

Where did you order that? I saw one online at petco I was thinking for my parakeets and it looks alot alike but the one I'm looking at practically has a door on each side lol. I really want to get them a flight cage too because they're learning bit by bit to start flying (they wont fly until they molt though).

Edit: I just checked and it is the same cage! lol. Is is as good as the reviews say it is? and how fast was the shipping? I really want this cage for my little guys now! I'm hoping to get a job soon so I can get them a bigger one and have my own fund to buy all my birdies their things :D
