Nanday Conure
Hi all! I'm looking to get a bit of a bigger/ more fitting cage for my Nanday Conure. I don't really know what would be best, I've been looking at sizes online but I'd like to hear some personal thoughts from other bird and conure owners, and what kinds you guys like.

My current cage is starting to lose the coating on it, is there anything I need to know about coated cages? Recently Mort has been chewing the bars (I'm not sure why) but is the coating something to be concerned about? Are there affordable cages that AREN'T coated? Tips on cleaning are welcome, too!

I think I would want one with the playstand on top, and on a stand, but due to budget I am not against just using the table that Mort's current cage is on.

What cages do ya'll have and suggest?! Thanks in advance!

XOXO Mort's Mom :green2:

My Ruppell's parrot had the same habit, and quickly chewed all the paint (powder coated) off the bars in one area. Even placing a bunch of toys there didn't stop him.

I now have an aluminum cage from King's Cages which works well. Unfortunately, King's stopped carrying them it looks like (a couple years ago when I got mine, they were changing manufacturers, and now they don't even have them on their website (?)). I'm not aware of any other company who has them, but search the internet and you might find one. They are a little more pricey than powder coated. The only other non-painted option is stainless steel, which is much more expensive. Unforutunately this biting on bars and chipping paint is a problem with some parrots. Good luck.

Hello, glad you're taking on the venture to upgrade! My cockatiels are in something similar to this... and they love the play stand on top!

I was just looking at one similar to that! The bars are sturdy? Mort can bend the ones in her current cage

Mine aren't destructive with their bars, but the reviews on the cage I posted have many owners (lots of conure owners get this I see) claiming the cage to be very sturdy. It sounds good to me!
