I'm not sure if this was discussed before in the forum :) before

I have an Alex (Hulk) about 3/ 4 months old (not sure on the exact age as I had adopted him). He doesn't wanna be anywhere but in or on top of his cage. He will step-up & stay on my fingers or my wrist (when watching TV) and when I walk around he is OK. But will not step down anywhere other than his cage. If he steps down (after some coaxing) he will climb down & walk (slowly...) back to his cage.

He does get nippy in or on top of the cage. He will try to bite if you put your hand on the cage. I understand this is cage territorial thing but why doesn't he step down anywhere else?

Any ideas on
1. What to do about the cage-territorial thing?
2. What to do on the fear of anything non-cage?

Thanks guys...

Have you tried setting a small bowl of treats or food somewhere other than his cage? Maybe if you can get him to spend some time elsewhere doing things he relates to positive experiences then he might be more interested in being elsewhere than his cage? I don't have any experience with Alexandrines, but my sun baby is also quite wary about being anywhere other than with me or in/on her cage, so I started feeding her on the bird trees and now she is quite happy to chill on them.

It works... as long as I'm there...
once I move so does he & makes a bee line for the cage :) or to me...

success at last... hulk was out of the cage the whole day today and tried heading to me only once. :)
it all started with hiding the cage 2-days back :D I know that is so mean... but it worked.

I'm gonna get him new perches; let us see how that works.
