Hi everyone,

My husband's lovebird appears to have broken 2 major tail feathers some how. What should we do?

Thanks for your help!

Appears that your Parrot has twisted two tail feathers. What caused it covers a very wide cross-section of possibilities from play to pre-molt. Commonly within a couple of days, they will fall-out naturally and be replaced with new feathers.

Enjoy the offering!

Yeahhhhhhhhhhh... young or new or newly-situated birds bang up their tail feathers, much to our distress. He's probably fine.

If you have further concerns, a good avian vet is everything.

In my opinion, any of the vets listed here should be better than a regular vet.

Hello and welcome to the ParrotForums.

Levi used to break his tail feathers all the time when he was clipped.
Drove me nuts. Since his flight feathers have grown in, he no longer has this problem.

Good Luck!
