He is really smart, picture shows it!
I think I've said it 10 times, but I'll repeat again. YSAs (if most of them are like mine) are SUPER SWEET birds.
My daughter came over with her friend, and Marley readily stepped-up to my daughter and even to her friend, ready for new adventure and to discover new people.
Did you try to introduce Mango to other people to see if he will step-up to others?
Marley is soooooo easy compare to my DYHA. Marley goes to eat her food when given something to eat, steps-up when you ask her, takes a shower when offered, goes back to her cage (on her own) when there is nothing to do and plays with her toys. She is just a pure sweetness. She doesn't get scared as easy as my DYHA. Just like "henpecked" said in one of his posts, YSAs think they are bigger than any other bird.
My DYHA on the other hand is a neurotic little creature with a princess-like personality. I can't even bribe her with anything, she wouldn't go for any food, toy or anything else, she just wants my attention. Sometimes she will start eating only after I play with her.....LOL. I have to turn the music on, dance and sing with her for about 30 minutes, and only then she goes to check what is in her dish. I don't think I even did something like this with my daughter when she was growing up...LOL. Also, she likes ONLY me and is trying to scare off everybody away from me and herself.
Well, I want everyone to know, I love my DYHA to pieces, she is a very funny and sweet (to me) bird, but she could be a challenge...LOL
You are so lucky to have YSA IMHO.
Did you consider harness training for Mango? It's getting difficult with age to train them. Marley was able to have a loop over her head yesterday and munch on a biscuit with the loop on!!! Whooo-Hoooo!!! We worked 3 months on that....LOL
I want Marley to wear harness so bad, I could take he with me everywhere with harness on.
