Meet Corky-licious!

Thankyou for the pictures Henpecked, he definetly does not look like an orange wing now I have seen yours. He doesnt have as much yellow on his face and his beak is too dark, I hope he hasnt minded me calling him an orange winged!
He still isnt keen on the nutriberries, just chucks them out of his bowl, and wont even acknowlegde the pellets yet, fussy bugger!

Hi Monica mc, his cage is never shut, it is always open, the doors cant move anywhere, the rope perch has a solid bit of wire through it so they cant move. I didnt realise there was a problem with his cage, its a bugger for attracting feathers though!

The only nutriberries my amazon will eat are the garden veggie flavour.
Bosley is picky too, doesn't like fruits at all, through sheer persistence I am getting him to eat some veggies. So far corn, peas, brussel sprouts and squash.
He doesn't like harrisons or roundybush. He has been eating pretty bird pellets but only picks at them. Got him some TOPS last night, so far he has eaten some, so far so good LOL

at least corky isnt the only fussy monkey! He is getting better at eating fruit, apple, orange and grapes are a winner most days. He will enjoy pear but doesnt like it too ripe. He will also eat cucumber, cherry tomatoes and lettuce. The sweet potato he still wont eat tried it cooked and raw, but he did eat some raw cabbage and carrot the other day. I did catch the cheeky monkey on the dining room table helping himself to shortbread I had made, and some icing off the birthday cake! He must have a sweet tooth - but still he wont sit on my shoulder or hand unless he wants a lift back to his cage :(
I will try a different flavour nutriberri and see how he goes.

Just keep trying new things and things you have already tried because sometimes they take it after they have been adjusted for a bit.
Whatever pellets that didn't get used by our 2 birds I make it into homemade birdy bread. They will both eat cornbread I make at home and can hide things in it LOL.
There's some good recipes in the recipe section, you'll learn his tastes and figure out how to work with them to get good food into him LOL
They are perpetual 2 year olds!!!!!!!!

I'm just concerned about any cages with an open top that don't have a way to be secured open other than a perch between the two doors. Although it's not likely a sturdy rope will move much, it is bendable. Wooden perches with slotted ends can often be moved, even if accidentally.

I've never liked the open top cages, especially not after hearing about a B&G that strangled itself trying to get out of the cage by pushing the doors open. I hope to never hear of another incident like that again! Whether the open top doors were open or closed.

As long as those doors are secured in one way or another (open or closed), that's fine!
