- Lala is a 4+/- year old Goffin's Cockatoo rescued from the shelter October 13th 2017. Beautiful, spunky and loves love!
Hey guys meet Winston! Winston is a 31yr old Yellow Naped Amazon! He's not my bird but honestly I really wish he was. I work for an elderly lady and Winston is hers. I believe my lady is Winston's only home. I fell in love with Winston 6 months ago. I don't think he's been out of his cage in at least 3 years except to go into a travel cage. Hasn't seen a vet in over a year I believe...I think maybe more. He seems healthy though, thank God! He doesn't pluck either. At least I haven't seen it. At one point he was bald in his life but that was long ago. He loves his spritz showers...it's hilarious! Sadly he's got 3 toys in his cage that I have never seen him play with...could he still bee a happy bird? I wouldn't think so but he seems healthy and isn't plucking...I feel bad.
When I first met him I talked to him and he responded and now I feed/water and change his cage and uncover him. He's talked to all day by my lady and I. He whistles and says one or two words...but I hear when he was out of his cage more he talked up a storm! He squawks...always seemingly happy but he is unusually quiet for his breed I think. She gets a good parrot mix and gives fresh veggies and fruit. I bring him treats now and then. If he's not in a rare bad mood he loves coming to the cage bars for a good yet guarded head rub. He has tried to bite but I forgive him and try training him as best I can not to bite by turning my back to him for a couple seconds. Then I come back and talk to him again throughout the day. I truly love this bird!
Anyway my time with Winston has helped my decision on adopting our own cockatoo and I wanted to introduce a big reason we have Lala now. He's a little camera shy so getting a suitable photo was hard! Meet Winston!!
