I had to pick up more meds for my birds at the vet's office today. There were no patients coming in though since the vets are out of town. Well, I walked in to find birds flying all over the offices! I heard something go past my head, and looked and it was a green Quaker. I saw a blue one as well watching me. Then I heard it fly again but didn't see it. Well, I moved my foot and almost stepped on the little thing. Then it flew up to the counter to see me. It was pretty obvious it wanted me to offer a hand for it to sit on, but I just told it I couldn't. It kept making what sounded like belching sounds and bobbing it's head. I imitated it back and it was very happy.

That's the first Quaker I've met that liked me. Just thought I'd share. The last one I met ran up to me with it's head feathers up, beak out, yelling at me, "Bad bird! Don't bite!"

I know, I saw 2 last week @ our pet shop. 1 blue & 1 green, I was very tempted, they were soo sweet. The green one, kept threatening me when I touched the cage, but when I stepped away, he started calling for me to come back.

He just wanted to come home w/me.

Yes, I have to admit, I was quite smitten! However, I don't need more birds. 3 are plenty for me even with being home all day. They all want my attention all the time. I have 3 "toddlers" in my mind:) Maybe I should say toddlers with hormones, lol!

With your three parrots, I imagine you do have your hands full! :) Maybe there's someone on the Forum from your area who would like to give that friendly little Quaker a good home.

Oooh, what a cutie!! That's so cute!

LOL, that's funny that the previous quaker threatened you while saying that...

Well, I'm sure the bird belongs to either one of the vets or someone else on the staff. No one said it was looking for a home. I just really liked the little bugger, and it obviously liked me.

It's just the first time a Quaker has picked me out. Usually they don't care for me for some reason. I think every macaw I've met has loved me instantly, and usually conures do as well. I've had some cockatoos and a Grey choose me, too, but never a Quaker before.

When I take Pete in today though I'm going to ask if I can say hello to it if it's there.

Well, the Quaker found me immediately today. When I remarked though that she liked me I was told, "No, she doesn't like anyone, she wants to stalk you." She did kind of stalk me. Everywhere I was, she was, too. She chewed on my clothes and then a couple of times started attacking my shoes. I had to keep stopping her on the shoes though as I was concerned that they were dirty.

Pete liked the Quaker, but he was afraid of a Meyer's that also kept coming to visit with us.
