RIP "Petey" my beautiful sun conure
He passed away this Monday, May 7. I only had him for two years, but loved him dearly. I swear I can hear him call to me when anyone opens the front door or I'm in the bathroom without him. (God forbid ;))
Oh how I loved him and miss him with me all day. I'm so lonely-though I have a houseful of kids, husband and dogs. Being birdless is painful..I just can't think of another bird except him, my Petey.. They believe he had encephalitis from an old bacterial infection. He was only a couple years old. I hate that I couldn't save him and he died so young. Thanks for listening. :(

I know how it feels to lose such a treasured birdy. Have you considered getting another bird? Not as a replacement, but another companion. I lost my Wonsy two years ago and I still ache for her. She died of two strokes that I could have prevented (the 2nd at least) and that eats me up. Merlin is now helping me heal that hole in my heart however.

A lot of members here have lost a bird before, we understand it's really tough. If you have any pictures or videos of Petey then I'm sure we'd all love to see them. :)

Welcome to the forum. What species was Petey?

im so sorry for your loss

He was a beautiful Sun Conure... The first picture is of him watching me rake leaves. He loved to sit outside on sunny days. the second was about a month ago during one of our naps.

I know how u feel, I lost my pet Sun Conure I had for 9 years. I lost him 2 years ago and still can't keep a Sun Conure as a pet because I still think of my Mango. Sorry for ur loss.

Awww...he was adorable and looked like he was a very happy guy. He was very loved. I'm sorry for your loss:(

I really want a bird, husband is thinking a talking parrot.. As long as it can be affectionate and loving...

I can feel one's emotions about his pet. I don't know what sort of attraction God just
Has put in pets that you never forget them and love them in their life. I've lost
my dog and its really disturbing me.
What was the reason of dying of him? Would you like to share?

So sorry, I know how attached you can get to these, beautiful on the inside and out, creatures. You will heal with time and may allow another into life.

So sorry for you loss, I feel your pain, losing a bird is a big heartache
Petey was lucky to have such a wonderful caring guardian, loving him endlessly
You have many wonderful memories and pictures, something always to be treasured

We do get so attached to our feathered children. Did you get lots of photos or videos for your memory box? Telling stories about him and photos helps to pass through the grief stages. (X hospice nurse here). Hugs to you.
