I have a 15 year old Moluccan cockatoo. She bit my forearm out of excitement she broke threw my skin is bruised today and swollen do I need a tetanus shot or antibiotics? Tia.

Stormy(M): blue Australian budgie
Picasso(F): green Australian budgie
Apollo(F): sky blue dominant pied Australian budgie
You only need an antibiotic if it gets infected, and you definitely don't need a tetanus shot, but I would suggest getting one if you haven't already. Tetanus has pretty much nothing to do with birds, but you do NOT want to get it.

You'll be fine. :) Just clean out the bite with soap and water. As long as it doesn't get infected, you'll be okay. And I second the comment on getting a tetanus shot. It sucks if you get it, though the bird won't have anything to do with it .

I don't know if birds cause tetanus.

If you show any symptoms of it, then you should see a doctor. Better be safe than sorry
