So working with our foster boy, Alex. We have gotten into him easily stepping up for everyone and being handed off to each of us. But literally this bird sits with you... truly literally he sits... Most play we've seen is not sure what was really playing and was trying to get a finger trap away from him.

Tonight I decided to try music to see how he would react. So far I've never had a bird - foster or one of our own - that does not respond to some type of music. Went thru an array, from what is usually an all around favorite - Maroon 5 (nothing)... Max's favorite the theme to Cops (Bad Boys) and while Ivory and Max were both chiming in from across the room, Alex shook his head and looked at me... went with Sinatra (another favorite), nada... thought maybe Xmas music, so hubby pulled up his favorite Charlie Brown and then couple other songs. Literally this bird is not responding to anything, including when I sing, hum, bounce and dance along - just get the Grey stare.

We have gotten to where Alex will let us do more head scratches, so great trust progress already, but all he wants to do is sit on your hand or arm. He's not terribly comfortable perching on the top of the computer screen, your knee, a playstand or much of anything (well except your hand).

Anyone have music suggestions that might open him up a bit? We are very happy with his progress one on one, but want to work on getting him into a happier bird state of mind. Totally open to suggestions!

Justice loves Sweet Home Alabama, We are the Champions , Barbara Ann, My Sharona, Wild, Wild West, and almost everything country as long as it has a beat he can dance to.
He also rocks out when I sing Old McJustice had a farm...lol

Skynyrd and Queen... great taste in music!!

Our CAG loves classical and specifically the violins. He's not a dancer but whistles and sings along. He also likes the nature/bird songs. He liked both jungle sounds and North American birds. He immediately perks up and starts looking around talking.

Perjo seems to enjoy instrumentals, jazz more than anything else right now.

Herb Alpert - Rise
George Benson - Breezin
Walter Murphy - Fifth of Beethoven

Both Scooter the CAG and Ralph the QP like female jazz singers like Peggy Lee, Ella Fitzgerald and Blossom Dearie. Ralph is also partial to Frank Sinatra (his favorite song is "Ring-a-Ding-Ding" and he seems to think I sing it as well as Sinatra did :D) and Dean Martin. They both like the Beatles and the Beach Boys too, and Ralph enjoys Beethoven and Mozart.

Okay, a weird idea...

Is it at all possible that native African people and their rhythms played some part in the evolution/success/environmental adaptation of Greys?
Maybe some African tribal music or drums or chants?

By the way, the Rickeybird likes to dance to, and mimic J-Lo in his movie....
Grrrr...

Because I am an old fart..I listen to "classic rock"..when I was a young teen to early 20's, it was the Beatles..Stones..Led Zep..Doors...Pink Flyod..ETC..also in my mid teens it was your typical "Top 40"..Tommy James and the Shondells..Beach Boys..Supremes..etc.

Music is ALWAYS playing here. I even leave the stereo on for the fids when I go out.

Smokey seemed to like "Southern Rock" lol..Lynyrd Skynyrd..The Marshall Tucker Band..;) Many a time I'd come in and look in on her and Amy,and Smokes would do that "head twist this way and that" with her arms kind of fluttering to "Can't you see" or "Sweet home Alabama" lol..Of course she'd stop immediately when she saw me..didn't want me to catch her rockin' out lmbo
