So working with our foster boy, Alex. We have gotten into him easily stepping up for everyone and being handed off to each of us. But literally this bird sits with you... truly literally he sits... Most play we've seen is not sure what was really playing and was trying to get a finger trap away from him.
Tonight I decided to try music to see how he would react. So far I've never had a bird - foster or one of our own - that does not respond to some type of music. Went thru an array, from what is usually an all around favorite - Maroon 5 (nothing)... Max's favorite the theme to Cops (Bad Boys) and while Ivory and Max were both chiming in from across the room, Alex shook his head and looked at me... went with Sinatra (another favorite), nada... thought maybe Xmas music, so hubby pulled up his favorite Charlie Brown and then couple other songs. Literally this bird is not responding to anything, including when I sing, hum, bounce and dance along - just get the Grey stare.
We have gotten to where Alex will let us do more head scratches, so great trust progress already, but all he wants to do is sit on your hand or arm. He's not terribly comfortable perching on the top of the computer screen, your knee, a playstand or much of anything (well except your hand).
Anyone have music suggestions that might open him up a bit? We are very happy with his progress one on one, but want to work on getting him into a happier bird state of mind. Totally open to suggestions!
