Oh man their feathers are in gorgeous condition!
Remi's going through her first moult so she looks like a patchy rat!

Her irises are starting to lighten now she's growing up a bit so I'm getting a taste of that crazy eye too - it's a bit unnerving when it's right up against your face.

It's soooo hard not to just squish them when they're all fluffy like that, especially when they're like Maya is in the 'ball' position, you can see their head feathers all fluffed and you just want to pat it so bad! (but you'll get savaged of course)

Hahahaha! Yeah, that first molt is a doozy. But she'll look like a brand new bird when all is said and done.

So true! That crazy eye look really is unnerving in the females. When those pupils contract to pinpoints and the whites of their eyes seem to glow? Geez!

Tell you one thing I've noticed when it comes to petting ekkies. Both of mine seem to prefer a lighter touch. Maya's always been easy (with me) petting-wise, but it's made quite a difference with Jolly. He FAR prefers almost feather light petting.
