I LOVE Eclectus! The first time I saw a female Vos eclectus many years ago, I was absolutely stunned by how beautiful she was. At that time, I figured I would never have the honor of owning one because of the price. Well, now, sadly, they show up in rescue on a fairly regular basis. My female, Haley, was adopted from another rescue since I have a soft spot for the Vos girls. The male, Calypso, came into my shelter as a stray and no owner was found.

As a side note, I do a lot of work with various species of animals through my shelter and rescue work. I've been at it for 17 years. I am a part-time dog evaluator for a shelter, where I specialize in potentially dangerous dogs. Despite all that, the absolute worst bite I've ever received from any animal was my first Vos eclectus, Shelby. Sadly, she died, likely of a stroke, a couple years ago. But, I will always have a beak-shaped scar on my arm to remember her by.

Thanks for looking!

what beautiful birds! beautiful colors and a personality to match :)

They're gorgeous...

It's quite rare, though, to find Eclectus in rescue?

Thanks!
Lene--- Unfortunately, they are becoming more and more common in rescues.

That is sad :(. Both of mine are re-homes that were given to me and i've turned down two birds that were offered to me last month. Very sad that Ekkies are starting to appear more in need of homes, esp since they are such great birds.

Here they try to sell them for almost the same as a chick, I couldnt find one in a rescue so i did craigslist which was bad, i had to bite my lip alot. Luckily the man who had my girl let me take her at a fair price once he realized she was not as healthy as he thought.

Beautiful birds Sonja! I just love the green one. The color jumps out at ya!
