My garden....it's getting there

OOOOH!!! You know i love me some peonies. :) That smell is intoxicating. I walked down the street last night with my dogs (and Gilbert actually) to the park where they have a whole bunch of peonies, just blooming, and i thought of you.

Oh I know they smell SOOOOO good!!! I made the mistake this morning and stuffed my nose into one, forgetting that ants love hanging out on them. :o I won't make that mistake again. :54:

So i decided to give it another try. I bought rose specific food (instead of just "flowering plant food") and sprayed the rose bush again for diseases.
It still produces such pretty flowers that i keep trying to work with this old, gnarly bush.

That is a LOVELY flower!! Love the color!!! :D When it's done blooming the first flush, you can cut the gnarly thing back by 1/3rd, making sure to remove the spent flowers. :) It should rebloom in about 6 weeks or so. ;)

Oh Wendy I am drooling again. I can't decide which of the roses I like the best. I would have loved to see you ant sniffing technique.:D

LOL Alison, it wasn't pretty. I was hopping about the garden like I had "ants in my pants" (pun intended) - but they were all over my face instead! :o

I took some full plant shots this morning, so here comes a whole lotta pictures. :54:

oooh amazing. You must really look forward to spring and summer!! I love the roses you have in containers too. I never thought of doing that.

The twins are beautiful and I have never seen that either. The garden is incredible WOW:)

I had to post my Hibicus blooming this year, it's by my now gravel driveway and soon to be concrete driveway in spring of next year then I can mulch around my Hibicus, they've been planted in for about 5 years and looking lovely!!! A couple of them I thought would be dead this year cause the concrete truck drove over them and smashed them down to pieces when I was having my backyard done. But they came back nicely!!! :)

Oh they are STUNNING!!!!!! :D You are SO ahead of me, Mikey. My Hibiscus are just now starting to form buds. I'm just glad that the Japanese Beetles haven't found them yet. (knock on wood). ;)

Those Hibiscus are really pretty:)

have you fed the hibiscus to the parrots yet??? they love the flowers and buds.

Oh man, I wish I would have known about parrots loving hibiscus. :( I sprayed mine the other day because the Japanese Beetles were going to town on mine. :( I'll know for next year though.

I think hibiscus are gorgeous but I always thought they wouldn't survive here in NJ.....I could get a potted one and let Gil nibble at it. :)

I love hibiscus, yours are just beautiful. I usually get a couple to put in pots but the pool gate. I didn't know parrots liked gem, that is great info.

Wendy, are yours planted or in pots? I also thought they wouldn't survive the winter, but if they do I will plant some.

I know you can feed that but I rather not...not safe here....I live in town so they're not clean! Too much pollution....

Mine have a ton of buds all over!!! I don't see this Hibiscus being sold at Lowe's anymore, found them 5 years ago at Lowe's but haven't seen them carry it anymore. I got them for a bargain for $5/ea. I saw them selling another outside Hibiscus this year on the sale cart at Lowe's for $2/ea so I bought 6, I kept 3 and planted them down the same row and give 3 to my neighbor. What color blooms you got??? The one I just got are Pink.

looks lovely but don't let your big macs out there they would snip the heads of all your beautiful flowers with there big beaks!:D:eek::22:

There are different types of hibiscus. The ones that are often grown in pots and look like small trees are not cold hardy. I grow the cold hardy hibiscus directly in the ground, and they get bigger and better each year. As soon as mine blooms, I'll post pictures. The flowers are as big as a dinner plate. :D
