My garden....it's getting there

Hey Weco did you check your garden? HEHE I remember when my nephew convinced his mom that it was a tomato plant and she stuck it right in her front window and made sure she kept it watered till she found out what it was. Needless to say she was not happy. That ended that plant:D

Garden...me...a garden.....nah, got some shrubs...have those touched up every other month, but no garden.....gave up smoking over twenty years ago & don't really favor brownies......

Wendy I will have to go measure it but it is a very large pot. It may end up in the ground eventually but for now I have this big pot. The pot is 19 inches across and 17 inches top to bottom. I am also going to pick up some miracle grow. It is sitting there and needs a plant:D. I am already planning on the ones I will pick up next year. I also want a yellow and I like that Miami one as well:54::54::54:. About obsession I am the master at it.:D Gets me in all kinds of hot water. That's why I have 4 birds:)

Finally my last peony went into bloom in the rain yesterday...lol

WOW, Mikey!!!! That is one STUNNING Peony!!! :D Don't you just HATE it when it rains just as they open?

I swear, for me this has been THE wettest May since we've moved here. Another few inches and I'll get myself a row boat and will probably end up with ducks in my yard. :30:

Mickey that peony is a really pretty shade of pink. Wendy whats a couple of more birds, just tell people their a new kind of parrot:D

Well at least you have a little goldfish barrel for them to swim in when the yard dries up:D

I used to have geese as pets and had to clean and fill their kid pool daily. They get soooo excited when there's fresh water in it they jump right in for a swim until they poop inside of it....lol

Took some new pictures a little while ago, while the sun is out for a change. Heavy thunderstorms are in the forecast later on today. Just dandy!!

Here is the brand new Brugmansia "Painted Lady", which I only ordered last week.

Thank you!!! Have you been spraying your rose bush regularly? If you're really unhappy with it, I would shovel prune it and get a new one. ;) Stick with hardy and disease resistant varieties. :)

Yes, Clematis are fairly easy to grow. Give them support, something to climb on, mulch the bottom heavily as they like their roots to stay cool, and feed them often.

There's a saying for perennials I have found is fairly accurate:

The first year they sleep.
The second year they creep.
The third year they leap.

:D

I sprayed it regularly last year but not this year because it didn't seem to help at all. I swore it had some kind of fungal infection from when i bought the house. I pruned it back a lot and got rid of the yucky parts but, although it still blooms, it's not very pretty other than the blooms. I was going to try, as a last resort, feeding heavily, weekly, for about a month to see if it perks up at all. When i bought the house the rose bush was growing in a bed that was SO overgrown you couldn't even get to it. I pulled all the stuff out and left only a few things (it was so overgrown it was kind of wet and soggy all the time!)
Right now, i'm waiting for all the lilies to bloom. I think they have to be the easiest to grow (in my yard anyhow). My lilies go crazy and boy do they multiply...and get a little crowded quickly!

i know this sounds ignorant but....my leaves on the rose bush look like the photos you see of 'black spot' and the actual stems/branches of the plant look more like tree bark than a green stem. but the thing blooms in spite of itself. it is also not in a location that gets a whole lot of sun, just first thing in the morning. so i think the dampness and lack of sunlight isn't really 'ideal' to say the least.

Your rose bush sounds quite old, lol. That doesn't mean it can't perform though. I have one with stems SO thick, I need a saw to trim it.

But yes, insufficient sunlight in combination with poor drainage and water logged soil WILL cause the plant to fungus.

I can't wait for my lilies either. :D

YUP, i have some that i can't cut right now, waiting to borrow a saw (don't have one, just have shears and pruners). I "looks" like an OLD bush, but the flowers it produces are actually very pretty and it blooms consistently.

Wendy The pictures are stunning. Thank you for posting them. Ray just put some pics on his facebook of my sisters first year flowering of her angel trumpet It is 2 years old and was a barely rooted cutting. It is a grafted type with three different colors :)

Thanks so much, Alison. :) I took more pictures this morning, as more roses are starting up....but I'll wait til I have more pics on the camera before I upload them all again.

Now I'm going to check out your FB page....in anticipation. :D
