I never knew that budgies can be velcro birds! :greenyellow: Tesla, my little New Year miracle baby, is a love beyond limits. I cannot believe he was here for just 12 days, and he only wants to be on me, get petted, give kisses and sit on my fingers or nap under my chin. :) When I try to put him in his cage, he would do funny growling noises and climb up my arm. He is so calm too - I didn't notice any rehoming anxiety, but he has his original cage, and it probably helps. He loves my hubby too and preens his beard. When he sees or hears me around he just clings to the cage bars and waits for me. I'm so much in love!!!
I screwed up his quarantine a couple of days ago when I forgot to close the door coming in to take something and... well, how can you hide a chirping baby from a super curious cage free flighted flock?! They were here in a split second! But with our forced air heating system I suspect it was pretty useless anyway... :(
The most amazing thing happened to the cockatiel today. He is afraid of all the birds and never lets anyone close - he screams and lunges at them, poor traumatized guy. :( So I took him to my bed after the shower, and Tesla wanted to come out, so I introduced them. Tesla ran straight to Murzik and started giving him kisses! :) He lunged and screamed, but this little angel didn't care! Murzik was so perplexed, and lowered his head for scratches. Tesla started preening him! It never happened before. I was in awe. They hanged out on my lap for a while, Murzik still screamed sometimes, but he allowed Tesla to preen him and sit right next to him. He even closed his eyes.
Isn't it amazing that a tiny heart under the feathers has so much love in it that many humans do not have? I'm so thankful for Tesla - it was my dream to have such bird and it still feels unreal. He makes me want to be a better person.

When my mother was around 10. She had a lil' budgie. She remembered every morning, her parents would let him out. She would fly to her bedroom door and peck at it till she would wake up!:) Super smart, curious little buggers!

Not only does he have sweet personality, but he is a really pretty little bird. He is lucky to have you and you, him.

He's a beautiful little budgie! What a sweet story, I'm so glad he found a wonderful home with you and a friendly flock to be a part of.

They are such great big birds in little bird bodies! Tesla is beautiful and I'm so glad he is so loving and cuddly!!

Such a sweet story and what a darling little bird! I am glad he is bringing you so much joy!

Took a couple of picks today (sorry for poor quality - my phone won't take well up close) - this is what happens when I walk by the cage! I couldn't even think a bird could be like this! He also likes to hang on the ceiling on his one toe. So I had to put the towels under the paper on the bottom of the cage because he falls pretty rough. If the cage is opened he jumps out and runs to me on the carpet. :)
I want to clip the hands of that person who clipped his wings! Cannot wait until he molts and gets his feathers back.

Aw that's nice to hear! I'm so glad Tesla is such a good little bird :). He's super cute too.
My Budgie is also fearless with the others much larger than him, and he won't back down. I think that's how budgies are. I love the little guys!

Budgies are great little birds, for sure, but it's also great that your new little man has just moved in so happily to live with you. He's a special little guy.

My cousins had a special little budgie, he'd fly around the house with them running, they could pick him up from above, he didn't mind. They are big birds in little birds' bodies, they aren't wimps by any means.

Congrats on the new baby! People don't give parakeets enough credit. I had a green one, Pickles, for 10 years, and she and I had a very special bond.

And I love the name Tesla... I'm an MRI tech :)

Awwww... what a great story! Love it!

What a sweet story, and what a cute little birdy! May I ask where you got him? I was wondering if it's possible to get such a well-adjusted budgie from the usual suspects, i.e., Petco, etc.? I love his name too! Very original!

I got him off Craigslist from a girl who adopted him from a shelter. She named him Tesla, and I absolutely love this name - a name of a great scientist and my favorite car! :D
I'm so happy they became friends with my tiel! :grey: :green yellow: I take Tesla's cage to my art room while I work, and they both enjoy their time on the top of it.
Tesla is a blessing - we are so happy he came to us!

I have a new baby too. Personally I am glad he is clipped because he has escaped his cage 3 times already. I had to toss a light shirt on him the first time. The other two I just picked him up. Got bit the last time but I knew not to yell. I almost did anyway. If Ace were fully flighted I may still be trying to catch him. One good thing is my main door is broken and is blocked with a dresser. You have to go through bathroom to get to my room and both doors are always shut. I plan to let ace become fully flighted once he is tame. I'm not trying to hijack thread just say that a temporary clip may not be a bad thing.

She looks tiny next to Murzik. I wonder if my budgies could make friends with my weiros/tiels? hmmmm.....

They're gorgeous little birds :) Very underestimated because of their size, they really do make amazing pets
