We lost my darling budgie, Sawyer, last night.
In the morning everything was fine and normal throughout the day.
He ate his morning veggies, and was playing with his toys.
We went down in the evening to do the water change and chop, and Sawyer was on the bottom of the cage and unable to keep his balance.
I tried to reach my vet (they were closed & I left a message) and we moved him to a hospital cage and put him in the upstairs bathroom where we could keep him warmer. Within 10 minutes he was gone.

We have no idea how old he was, he came to us from a rescue almost 5 years ago and was an adult then. He did not like other birds...until Jax.
After Phoe died, Jax and Sawyer became friends, and though we never let them out at the same time to keep Sawyer safe, he and Jax fed & preened each other through the bars.
Jax is once again devastated.

My heart breaks for not only my loss, but for his. He keeps looking for Sawyer,, and his little body keeps shaking. He is calling out for Phoe again for the first time in awhile.
Please keep Jax in your thoughts, I can't imagine what he is going through.

Sawyer, you were loved by both your human and feathered flock, my Sweet Boy, and you are missed. I'm so glad we had the chance to know and love you.

I'm sorry for your loss:( Rip Sawyer:(

So sad. I am very sorry for your loss. He could have been ancient (even though I know that doesn't make it any easier). I am glad you gave him a good home and got to show him a life worth living, but I am so sorry you are going through this.

Sp sorry that Sawer passed but at least he knew he was loved and that you were colse by.

Poor Jax! Sawyer was a beautiful boy indeed. Sorry for your loss. It pinches my heart everything I see the loss of one of our flock.

I’m so sorry for your loss - what a beautiful boy and an obviously loved flock member.

Oh no! Poor Sawyer, poor you, and poor Jax, after he'd just found himself a little buddy to help ease his pain over Phoe's passing! Sawyer was so lucky to have been cared for by you and Reg. Budgies spread so much love and joy wherever they go but it's so devastating when that spark of life leaves their tiny little bodies. This must be so hard for Jax and I cannot imagine how confused and bereft he must be feeling.

Godspeed to the Bridge beautiful Sawyer, may you bring as much happiness to your flock there as you did here on Earth.

I'm so sorry for your loss and for Jax's loss. Heartbreaking. My thoughts are with you both.

Oh No, Terry I am so sorry! Sawyer is beautiful! Poor Jax! :(
One loss after another. I hope he doesn't get withdrawn.

(((HUGS))) XOXOXO

Oh no! So sorry to read this Terry :o Geez too many fid's are going over the "bridge" lately!

Phoe was/is your heartbird, but Jax is your mini-me. Rescuer. Seer of need. Responder. I love that little guy. He dares to reach out. And love. And he pays the price. I hope he finds his next rescue soon. Love you, Terry.

Oh my goodness Terry. I'm so sorry to hear about this. Sawyer was indeed a beautiful little guy. There are no words, other than to let you know that you and Jax are in our thoughts and prayers my friend.

Sending all my love your way<3

My dear Terry, deepest condolences for the passing of Sawyer. May his precious memories and beauty give you comfort. Sawyer's beauty and gentleness attracted Jax in time of need. Loving feathered hugs to you and Jax.

Oh! The poor little boy! I'm so sorry, Terry, both for you and for Jax. Sending warmest hugs to you both tonight and hopes your sweet memories of Sawyer will help the pain. With much love, Trish. XXXX

I am so sorry! You were there at the end!
End is the wrong word! It really is a passing, a transition to something we don’t quite grasp!

Words seem so limiting in such times. But, without being there, may this help; Huge, Warm Amazon Feather Hugs my dear friend...

It is in these moments we need the comforts of our family and friends.. Know that you are loved by a group of fellow Bird Lovers that understand and know the heartache of the loss.

Poor Jax, to have reached out, only to loose yet another can not be an easy road. Hold him warmly and pass along to him that he is Loved.

I have come to understand that I am not losing them, only increasing the numbers that will be meeting me when it is my turn...

Prayers and Hugs my Dear Friend...

Thank you all so much for your kind words of comfort, they truly do help.
Jax did better last night, he wasn't looking for Sawyer nearly as much and was hanging out on a perch on the outside of our tiel Keifer's cage. Jax likes Keifer, but they don't preen each other or anything. I'm glad Jax has him, I think it is making it a bit easier on him.
