I was paired with a female Eckie... which funny was one of my 'dream' birds until I actually met quite a female female Eckies
I was an Adoption Coordinator for years for a large parrot rescue and I can tell you with absolute certainty, no doubts or questions, the right bird for you is the bird that connects with YOU.... I obviously believe in adoption and allowing an adult bird (past sexual maturity) to pick you. And following that path myself, I ended up with a bird that never once did I ever consider or want - a blue and gold macaw. I always said I was not a macaw person, never had an interest in the extra large guys - green cheeks are the birds that converted me to a bird nut. But, from the moment Max stepped up on my arm and face planted into my chest, there was no doubt that HE was the right bird for me, whether I wanted a macaw or not. I would get teased at the shelter about all the times I said I was not a 'macaw person', but I would always laugh and respond, I'm not a macaw person, I am a MAX person. Max could have been any size or color, it is all about the individual that Max is that makes him my best friend and perfect match
It's a cute program and game, but don't take it as gospel... every bird is different and while it may say a Pacific Parrotlet is your perfect bird, my time working with birds, I can tell you there are wonderful parrotlet and there are ones that are little jerks.... ones that are social and enjoy everyone, but many connect with one person and are nippy with everyone else. If you have the opportunity or chance to go to a shelter or rescue and meet a bunch of different birds, and see who connects with you. You might need to stay with a size range for cage or where you live, but still there is a wide array of personalities in the small to medium birds, and like the big guys, parrots of every size have their own unique personalities!
Good luck in your search!
