Anyone know anything about nanday conures? I have one named Mac and I know they are loud but he is loud all day and night any way I could train him to be just a little quieter? I had sun so noise doesn't bother me much but he is constant. Lol his favorite line is " what are you doing" which is just adorable!

You can try and make sure he gets plenty of exercise (i.e. flight), opportunities to bathe, foraging, toys to play with, teaching him an acceptable sound that is preferred over screaming, foraging, etc. Just overall keeping him busy and tired helps.

This is hilarious because that's my nanday hybrid's favorite line too! I found that my boy's more likely to quiet down if I've spent an hour and a half playing with him nonstop. I think he gets tired of me after a while and moves on to more interesting things. I also make sure he has lots of things to play with when he's in his cage. Boredom can lead to bad habits

Since you have a nanday I have a question.. Does your "hump" things?? Mine does all the time and I don't know what to do about it.

No, I've never had that problem. Do you for sure know the sex of your nanday? Because I think the humping action you're asking about is more normal for a female conure. If it's for sure a male and you want to train this behavior out, when he goes to hump, redirect his attention with a toy or a trick he already knows. If his humping is focused on a particular toy, remove it as soon as possible. Watch what starts the humping so you can cut him off before it happens and train it out.

I'm not sure the sex.. I've just always referred to it as a he but I do believe he's a she because when my boyfriend plays with him he'll even start bobbing his head like he us going to throw up (like feeding babies) it's just so weird started doing it with one of those tents so I took it out but now will do it to the rope perch and even the food dish.. Is there anything I can do to stop this? He even does it to the bottom of his cage on the bars. I'm afraid he's gonna hurt himself or herself.

It is the season!
They will do that to the object of their desires whether ir be human or inanimate.
Our male african brown head does it to my hubby, cannot tell sex of parrot this way.

What you can do is make sure they get 12 hours of dark/sleep at night. Don't feed warm mushy foods or foods with higher fat content. Also no petting below the head and neck, sends the wrong message

Here's some articles that might be informative in regards to petting and the 'oversexed' psittacine.

A change of how you pet, the foods you feed and even how you feed (dry food vs soft food, warm food vs cold food), lighting, and even cage placement/arrangement can all help discourage mating behaviors. It is not healthy for parrots to be sexually stimulated by humans because it can lead to enlarged sexual organs, unhealthy relationships (there is no way that a human can physically please a birds natural desire to mate - at least, not without making things worse!) and possibly hernias (most common in cockatoos).

It can help to start teaching your nanday acceptable behaviors. Both males and females can hump and regurgitate, so it doesn't say much!

Clicker training, foraging, exercise via flight, bathing, taking the bird outside in a harness or cage, etc. All these things can be done to better stimulate your conures brain and give him things to do and think about other than mating.
